FAT LOSS, NO BS
Here's the truth: most fat burners on the shelf are not doing what the label implies. That is why "fat burners are a scam" has become the default opinion, and honestly, it is earned. The category is built on sweat, jitters, and proprietary blends that hide how little is actually in the tub.
But the conclusion people draw from that is wrong. The problem is not that every ingredient in the category is useless. The problem is that the entire category has been sold as a replacement for the one thing that actually creates fat loss: an energy deficit. Nothing you swallow overrides that. Nothing.
So here is the honest version, the one a supplement company is not supposed to write. A fat burner is a small lever that sits on top of a deficit you are already running. If the deficit is not there, the lever has nothing to pull on. Start with what actually moves the needle, in order.
| LEVER | WHAT IT ACTUALLY DECIDES | GO DEEPER |
|---|---|---|
| Calorie deficit | Whether you lose fat at all. Every other item on this list works through it, not around it. | The complete fat loss guide |
| Protein intake | How much of the weight you lose is fat instead of muscle, and how full you feel while eating less. | How much protein you need |
| Resistance training | Whether you finish the cut looking lean or just looking smaller. | Strength training for fat loss |
| Sleep | Appetite control, training quality, and how much muscle survives the deficit. | Sleep and fat loss |
| Tracking | Whether the deficit you think you are in is the deficit you are actually in. | Macro tracking that sticks |
| Supplements | A small amount of support on top of everything above. Never a substitute for any of it. | Incendiary Stage 2 (MitoBurn) |
WHY MOST FAT BURNERS DISAPPOINT
Most of the category is engineered around one thing: making you feel something. Heat. Flush. A racing heart. That is easy to manufacture and easy to sell, because a felt sensation reads as proof to the person taking it.
It is not proof. Feeling warm is not the same as changing body composition, and a stimulant load big enough to make you sweat through a warmup is not the same as a formula built to do a job. The industry knows this. That is why so many labels hide behind a proprietary blend instead of printing a dose next to each ingredient.
If a brand will not tell you the dose, they are hiding something. That is the real scam in this category, and it has nothing to do with whether any single ingredient has research behind it.
- Proprietary blends. One total milligram number covering eight ingredients tells you nothing. It exists to make a cheap formula look full.
- Stim stacks. Formulas pushing 500mg+ caffeine alongside multiple secondary stimulants are selling intensity, not a mechanism.
- Sweat as the metric. A rise in skin temperature is a sensation, not an outcome.
- "No diet needed." Any product marketed as a replacement for the deficit is the exact scam the skeptics are right about.
WHAT ACTUALLY DRIVES THE RESULT
Fat loss comes from a sustained energy deficit. Food creates most of it, movement supports it, and everything else you do is either protecting muscle or protecting adherence. That is the whole framework.
The size of the training lever is worth being honest about. An overview of 12 systematic reviews covering 149 studies found that exercise training on its own produced roughly 1.5 to 3.5 kg of weight loss and 1.3 to 2.6 kg of fat loss in adults with overweight or obesity. Real, but modest. The same review reported that resistance training reduced lean mass loss during weight loss, which is the part most people ignore while they chase the scale.
Read that again, because it reframes the entire supplement question. If structured exercise itself is a moderate lever, no capsule is going to outrank your food intake. What a supplement can do is support the edges of a plan that is already built. The afterburn effect is oversold for the same reason, and so is every food that supposedly torches calories on its own.
WHAT A FAT BURNER CAN HONESTLY DO
Strip the marketing off and the category has three legitimate jobs. None of them is "lose weight for you." All three only pay out when the deficit already exists.
- Support training output. Better sessions during a deficit means more stimulus to hold onto muscle while calories are low.
- Support metabolic signaling. Certain compounds act on the same pathways exercise activates. That is a mechanism worth understanding, not a promise.
- Support adherence. A cut fails on the days you quit, not on the days you were 200 calories over. Anything that makes the plan easier to run is doing real work.
That is a smaller claim than the category usually makes. It is also the only version that survives contact with reality.
WHERE MITOBURN FITS
Incendiary Stage 2 is a single-ingredient product, and that is deliberate. One capsule per serving, 30 servings per bottle, and one thing on the active panel: L-β-Aminoisobutyric Acid (MitoBurn®) at 500 mg, the full MitoBurn® trademark dose. No proprietary blend. No hidden stimulant. One ingredient, one dose, printed where you can read it.
L-BAIBA is not a stimulant and it is not a thermogenic. It is a myokine, a signaling molecule your skeletal muscle releases during exercise. Roberts and colleagues identified it in Cell Metabolism in 2014, showing that BAIBA drives brown-adipocyte gene expression in white fat and hepatic beta-oxidation through a PPAR-alpha mechanism, and that plasma BAIBA rises with exercise in humans and tracks inversely with metabolic risk factors.
Here is the part the rest of the industry leaves out. That work is cell, animal, and human-correlation evidence. It establishes a mechanism, not a human fat loss outcome. A separate randomized, placebo-controlled crossover trial in the Journal of Dietary Supplements confirmed that oral L-BAIBA is absorbed and shows up in human plasma at 250 mg, 500 mg, and 1,500 mg doses, with no meaningful changes in blood markers of health and no adverse events reported. That study measured absorption only, and its authors explicitly called for follow-up efficacy work.
That work has now been published, and here is where a supplement company is supposed to go quiet. In a 2026 trial in Nutrition Journal, overweight and obese adults ran a calorie-restricted diet and an exercise program for 56 days while randomized, double-blind, to placebo, 500 mg of MitoBurn®, or MitoBurn® plus 40 mg of grains of paradise. Both of the branded ingredients we have sold, tested by name, in people actually dieting. There was no significant difference between groups in body mass, fat mass on DXA, fat-free mass, body fat percentage, or resting metabolic rate. None in blood pressure, glucose or the lipid panel either.
One thing did separate from placebo: hunger. The MitoBurn® group rated themselves less hungry than placebo at 14, 28 and 56 days. The grains of paradise combination reached it at day 28 only. That is the honest job description, and it is a narrow one. It will not reshape you, and the trial says so plainly. It may make the deficit that does reshape you easier to hold on the night you would otherwise raid the pantry. We would rather sell you that than a number we cannot support.
So the honest read is this: the mechanism is well described, oral dosing demonstrably reaches the bloodstream, and the human efficacy research is still developing. Research suggests the pathway is real. That is different from claiming a capsule causes weight loss, and any brand telling you otherwise is ahead of the evidence. The deeper breakdown lives here: what the L-BAIBA evidence actually shows.
HOW TO RUN IT WITHOUT LYING TO YOURSELF
You cannot out-supplement a diet you are not tracking. Set the foundation first, then add the small lever on top. One capsule is a serving, so follow the directions printed on the bottle and stay consistent with them.
- Build the deficit first. Food intake set, protein high, and a way to verify it. Guessing is not a plan.
- Keep lifting heavy. Cutting calories without resistance training is how people lose the muscle they spent years building. Four levers decide that outcome.
- Hit protein every day. Post Iso at 24g per serving makes a hard protein target easy on days you are eating less.
- Cover the micronutrients. Less food on the plate makes vitamin and mineral targets harder to hit. Ghillie Greens lists every ingredient with its milligrams, no proprietary blend.
- Judge it over weeks, not days. Scale weight swings with water, sodium, and glycogen. Give any change 8 to 12 weeks of honest adherence before you decide it worked.
THE RED FLAGS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER
Skip the ingredient panic and use these four filters instead. They catch nearly every bad product in the category, and none of them requires a chemistry degree.
- No doses on the label. A blend total is a refusal to answer, not a formulation strategy.
- Weight-loss promises. Legitimate supplement copy describes support and mechanism. Guaranteed pounds is a marketing claim, not a science one.
- Transformation photos as evidence. Those people were in a deficit. The photo is proving the deficit worked.
- Stacking sensation. When the pitch is how hard it hits, the formula is selling a feeling, because it has nothing else to sell.
FAT BURNER FAQ
Do fat burners actually work?
Not the way the category advertises. No supplement creates fat loss on its own, and anything sold as a replacement for a calorie deficit is exactly the scam skeptics say it is. Certain ingredients have real mechanisms behind them and can offer support on top of a deficit you are already running. That is the honest ceiling.
Can a fat burner work without a calorie deficit?
No. Fat loss requires a sustained energy deficit, and every legitimate supplement in this category works through that process rather than around it. Set food intake and protein first. Then decide whether you want the extra support.
Is MitoBurn a stimulant?
No. L-β-Aminoisobutyric Acid is a myokine, a signaling compound skeletal muscle releases during exercise, not a stimulant or a thermogenic. Incendiary Stage 2 contains zero caffeine, which is why it stacks cleanly with a pre-workout instead of competing with one.
Can I take it alongside my pre-workout?
Yes. Since there is no caffeine in it, it does not add to your daily stimulant load. Track total caffeine from every source you are taking, not just the scoop, and read the real risks of pre-workout if you are stacking multiple products.
Is Incendiary Stage 2 vegan or vegetarian?
No. The capsule shell is gelatin, so it is not suitable for vegan or vegetarian diets. The shell also contains titanium dioxide and FD&C colors. The transparency story here is the dosing, not a dye-free label, and you deserve to know that before you buy.
How long should I run it before deciding?
Give it 8 to 12 weeks of consistent adherence and judge the trend, not the daily scale reading. If your deficit was not actually in place during those weeks, you did not test the supplement. You tested your tracking.
READY TO GEAR UP?
Build the foundation, then add the tools. Real doses of real ingredients, printed on the label where you can check them.
- Fat loss support on top of a deficit: Incendiary Stage 2 (MitoBurn), 500 mg L-BAIBA, one ingredient, no blend
- Hitting protein while eating less: Post Iso, 24g whey isolate per serving
- Covering the gaps in a cut: Ghillie Greens, real-ingredient greens with every dose disclosed
- Not sure where to start: Take the supplement quiz
The deficit does the work. The tools make the work easier to keep doing. Discipline beats motivation, every time.
ALWAYS FORWARD.
